A Winter Love Story: Cassie + Blaynes’ Engagement Session at Cheam Lake Wetlands and Bridal Veil Falls

As a documentary wedding photographer, I’m all about capturing real, unscripted moments that tell a couple’s unique story. When Cassie reached out for an engagement session, I knew we were in for something special. These two biologists, self-proclaimed nerds about wildlife and plants, wanted a backdrop that matched their outdoorsy spirits. We settled on two stunning locations: the serene Cheam Lake Wetlands and the breathtaking Bridal Veil Falls. The result? A collection of candid, heartfelt photos that perfectly reflect their love and connection to nature.

A Love Rooted in the Outdoors

Cassie + Blayne are the kind of people who feel most at home surrounded by trees, water, and the quiet hum of the natural world. Both biologists, they spend their days studying plants and wildlife, and they share their home with two adorable pups: Otis, a curious beagle, and Flora, a playful golden doodle. When Blayne proposed in December, it set the stage for the most magical winter wonderland wedding - and it was just as magical as it could have been.

Their engagement session was a celebration of who they are as a couple. The Cheam Lake Wetlands offered a peaceful, rustic vibe with its shimmering water and lush surroundings, while Bridal Veil Falls brought a touch of drama with its cascading beauty. These locations weren’t just pretty backdrops—they were a reflection of the couple’s passion for the outdoors and their laid-back, authentic energy.

Documentary Wedding Photography: Capturing the Real Moments

My approach to photography is all about letting the day unfold naturally. No stiff poses, no forced smiles—just real moments that tell a story and focus on love and connection and each couples individuality.
